International Jazz Weeks Burghausen

How deep the tracks are that the Jazz had digged into the city, is revealed by Burghausen in an extraordinary tribute to the great musicians. On 8 August 1999, the “Street of Fame officially opened with a Salsa concert of Cuban Tony Martinez.

Between city hall and Mautnerschloß  the town and IG Jazz acknowledge many jazz legends with bronze plates, which in addition to the signature and the date of its guest performance in Burghausen- are perpetuated here in the city.

The longest castle in Europe commits the music world – the Jazz Week is one of the longest continuously performed jazz festivals in the world, the small town below the castle is Germany’s smallest city of jazz. Even Moers – Moers? – Is five times larger.
